Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, just 36 days from today. Pre-orders have been open since June 25, and Rockstar North's Rob Nelson told Japanese magazine Famitsu this week that he is confident the game will arrive as planned.
Here is everything US, UK, Canadian and Australian players need before launch: the release date and delay risk, platforms, prices and editions, pre-order bonus, storage and what we still don't know.

Nelson tells Famitsu he expects the game to arrive as planned
Nelson's comments are reassurance rather than a new date announcement, and Rockstar's store page still lists November 19. Another delay is always possible before any launch, but there has been no official announcement moving the game into 2027.

Not announced
Rockstar has not announced a PC version. If one follows, past Rockstar games reached PC a year or more after consoles, but that is speculation, not a promise.
Store listings describe GTA 6 as a single-player experience, and Rockstar has not announced a GTA Online-style mode or date.
GTA 6 price, editions and pre-order bonus
Rockstar revealed two editions on June 24, 2026, with the same price on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Canadian pricing was not confirmed in the coverage I found, so check the PlayStation Store or Xbox store. UK pricing comes from The Scotsman's report on the announcement; TechRadar guessed £79.99 before it was confirmed.
Standard Edition: the full game, plus the Vintage Vice City Pack if you pre-order.
Ultimate Edition: adds an exclusive collection of vehicles, matching revolvers for the lead pair, extra customisation and other bonus content. You can upgrade from Standard later for a $20 add-on.
Vintage Vice City Pack: included with any pre-order placed before November 20, 2026, on either edition.
GTA+: digital pre-orders on PlayStation or Xbox include one month of GTA+.
Physical copies: the box contains a download code and no disc.
Because the pack comes with either edition, it is not a reason to upgrade to Ultimate.
Story, setting and what we have seen
GTA 6 returns to Vice City with two lead characters, Jason and Lucia, a duo shown in Rockstar's trailers and artwork. Rockstar published "GTA VI: An Extended Look" on August 27, 2026, along with new screenshots, as the launch campaign built up.
Rockstar has kept story details tightly guarded, so this guide stays spoiler-free. The Vintage Vice City Pack gives some hints about the tone: retro outfits, a 1955 Vapid Stanier sedan, Shore Court Garage and Ocean Beach.
Storage and how to prepare
Rockstar has not published an official file size or system requirements. Leaks and estimates point to roughly 200 GB on PS5, and Rockstar could still change that, so treat it as a rumour.
To be ready:
Free up space. Aim for 200 to 250 GB free on your console. The 512 GB Xbox Series S has limited usable space, so consider a storage expansion card.
Check for the preload. The digital pre-load has been reported to start on November 12, a week before launch. Confirm on your console's store.
Use an internal drive. PS5 and Xbox Series games run from internal or officially supported expansion storage, not a standard USB hard drive.
Check your local launch time. Rockstar has not set one hour for all regions, so look at your store listing.
Order before November 20 if you want the Vintage Vice City Pack.
