What VisionQuest is about

VisionQuest follows the White Vision, the version of the character who flew away at the end of WandaVision after his memories were restored. He now knows his past life intellectually but cannot feel any of it, and the series tracks his struggle to reconnect with his humanity.

Showrunner Terry Matalas has described the premise as Vision having spent a few years out in the world, yet being less in touch with his humanity and his past than he would like.

The story also explores Vision's bond with his son Tommy Maximoff, now played by Ruaridh Mollica, and the series is built around father-and-son themes. Tommy is introduced as an 18-year-old orphan newly out of the foster care system in London.

Ultron returns

James Spader comes back as Ultron for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, and he appears both in his robot body and in a human form. Spader has said Ultron spent the intervening years inside Vision's memory, taking in the internet, television and history, and he describes the pair's relationship as a strange mix of father, son, therapist and psychopath.

Familiar AI voices

The trailer also brings back Marvel's artificial intelligences, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H., and J.A.R.V.I.S. is shown warning Vision about the danger of keeping his former creator close.

Matalas, best known for Star Trek: Picard, created and runs the series. He directs alongside Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro and Vincenzo Natali. Kevin Feige and Jac Schaeffer, the creator of WandaVision, are executive producers.

Runtimes and the unusual rollout

The schedule is front-loaded: six of the eight episodes arrive in the first three weeks, then the final two come one at a time. Reported runtimes put the premiere pair at about 98 minutes (53 and 45 minutes), and the October 21 and October 28 pairs at about 100 minutes each. The last two episodes are the longest, at roughly 130 minutes combined.

That makes October 14 a manageable first night, and it means viewers can finish most of the series before the end of October.

What to watch before VisionQuest

Marvel has encouraged fans to revisit key MCU projects before the premiere. Vision's story runs through these titles:

  1. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015): Vision's creation and Ultron's first appearance.
  2. Captain America: Civil War (2016): Vision's role among the Avengers.
  3. Avengers: Infinity War (2018): Vision's death.
  4. WandaVision (2021): the return of Vision and the origin of the White Vision.
  5. Agatha All Along (2024): the trilogy's middle chapter, with the Maximoff family thread.

Short on time? WandaVision is the most important one, since VisionQuest picks up from its ending.

Where to watch VisionQuest

VisionQuest streams only on Disney+. Disney+ has not been officially available in Pakistan in the past: in 2022 Disney released Ms. Marvel in Pakistani cinemas instead. Check the Disney+ website for current availability in your country before you subscribe.

VisionQuest FAQ

When does VisionQuest premiere? Wednesday, October 14, 2026, on Disney+, with two episodes released together.

How many episodes are there? Eight, ending with the finale on November 11.

Is VisionQuest a limited series? Yes. It is an eight-episode limited series and the third and final chapter of the WandaVision trilogy.

Do I need to watch WandaVision first? It is the closest link, because VisionQuest picks up from the White Vision's story at the end of that series. Marvel has also encouraged fans to revisit key MCU projects before watching.

Is Ultron really back? Yes. James Spader returns in both robot and human form.

Will Vision appear in Avengers: Doomsday? That has not been confirmed. Reports note that Bettany is absent from the official casting announcements for the film, and that the series finale was written to leave room for Vision and Tommy depending on how it resolves.
